Jon Cavan

Jon Cavan is the founding principle of Cornerstone Realty Group.  Jon has extensive experience in financing, developing, managing, leasing, buying and selling commercial real estate in the San Diego region since 1983.  Drawing on his experience in the last 70’s and early 80’s in apartment ownership and management, in 2014 he expanded the company’s management portfolio to include multi-family residential, as well.

At Cornerstone Realty Group Jon oversees lease negotiations, tenant coordination, project development and marketing for the company’s new and existing properties.  He is also one of two Principals of the San Diego office of The Alison Company, a commercial real estate financing company.

Prior to founding Cornerstone Realty Group Jon started his San Diego career with John Burnham & Co in the Real Estate Finance Division between 1983 and 1988.  He joined the Real Estate Development company of John Wood & Associates and in the two years there was involved with 3 new projects with 9 buildings and a total of over 150,000 sf of new commercial development.  While there, he was involved with: property management, leasing, and financing of over nine projects in Kearny Mesa and Rancho Bernardo.  In 1990, Jon returned to financing for Dwyer-Curlett.  In 1993 started his own company.

Jon, a UW-Madison graduate received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics (with Honors) in 1981 and completed the Masters of Science – Real Estate Appraisal and Investment Analysis program in 1983 under the guidance of the well-renowned Professor James A. Graaskamp.
